Gene Messer Volkswagen invites you to learn why your car or truck ac is not cooling.
Your vehicle’s air-conditioning not working is likely caused by a freon leak or a failing compressor. Though these causes are the obvious reasons that the AC isn’t working inside the car, a dirty cabin filter or a bad belt could also be the problem. Regardless of why or how, when you are counting on the sweet relief of ice-cold air it can be incredibly disappointing anytime it won’t come through. Don’t get in a panic, because our well-versed auto technicians know what to spot and are there to cool off your interior long before the first heatwave hits.
The most likely reason your AC stopped cooling is because the vehicle’s AC is leaking. Your car’s air-conditioner system uses freon to cool the ambient air temperature and creates needed cold air. Whenever you want some cool air, it won’t be possible if there’s a freon leak happening. Another source that your AC isn’t producing cold air is that the car is a hybrid. The air-conditioner system uses the engine power, the air-conditioning won’t be getting any power if your car is in EV mode and the engine stops running.
If your air-conditioning is turned on but the fan stopped blowing cold air then there might be a blown air-conditioner fuse. Fuses protect vehicle components from a power surge and while it may just need to be replaced, however, if the AC fuse keeps popping then it’s possible you have a larger issue at hand. A low amount of air-conditioning refrigerant or a possible leak could also be the cause, which our highly skilled technicians can repair.
If the air-conditioner is leaking, you can tell by the damp spots in your vehicle or puddles seen under your car where it’s parked. When your air-conditioning is producing cold air inside your vehicle, it has to displace all the moisture it absorbs from the outdoors and flows through the evaporator drain. This could also be caused by the AC Refrigerant level being too low which leads to the evaporator coils freezing up and an overflow of condensation. You need to keep an eye out for faulty seals in the AC compartment or the air-conditioner’s air filters if this problem continues to happen.
